Post Reunion 2015

Qualitas Non Quantitas 95th

Entry Halton Apprentices

Newsletter Number 23                    May/June 2015

Saturday 16th May 2015 marked the date of the reunion favouring 55 years from Attestation and, being May, we all enjoyed better weather, except for the rain on Monday 18th as the hangers-on were leaving for home. Style and format was the same as last time with everyone being responsible for their own bills etc.

Mike & Marian Storey have done a great job in organising this 2015 event despite being absorbed in searching for and executing a major house move at the same time. (is there a minor house move?)

Thirty four diners sat down for dinner and our designated Waitress, Sammie, and her colleagues did a most efficient job the whole evening ensuring everyone was served the meals previously ordered with little fuss and a ready smile in place, well done, Girls. (A complementary message has been sent to The Bell, emphasising the girls efficiencies’)

A lot of people made the event into a long weekend, choosing to stay for three nights including Friday to Monday morning, which enhanced the enjoyment.

Tony Bradley has volunteered to look into arranging something on similar lines for next year, 2016, and already his investigations are gathering pace; more details will follow when available.

As always, our widowed ladies are most especially welcome and should be encouraged to join us. If you know them, please encourage them.

Email Messages

After getting home Mike sent out the following message which generated several replies:

Hi folks,   Hope everyone had a safe and uneventful journey home despite the bad weather. Just like to say thanks again to you all for making the effort to come to the Reunion. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I know Marian & I did. It was a great weekend. Hope to see you all next year.

Best regards, Mike & Marian Story

Enjoyed it (Sent from my phone)

Super weekend, thank you all very much. Just had a Skype call from Pete Micklewood in Cape Town, he and Marlene send their best regards to everyone and are tempted for next year.

Best wishes, Geoff Cummins

Enjoyed the reunion, hopefully will see you all again next year, where ever it might be held.  Thanks again Mike for the organising.

Cheers, Roy & June Jacobs

Thanks for everything you did Mike, super weekend and great to see everyone. Thanks to Tony for offering to arrange next year’s bash. See you all then if not before.

B rgds, Tony & Ann Eve

Mike, We would like to add our thanks for all you did to try to make the weekend successful.  It was a shame the venue didn’t have a lounge area where we could have retired to reminisce. I enjoyed meeting up with you all again and I hope my CRAFT moments, which are becoming more frequent, didn’t cause me to embarrass myself too often. Yes, the return journey was pretty awful but we survived. (can’t remember a flipping thing for those who are wondering)

Regards and best wishes, Martin and Denise Kirby

Hi Mike, Phew! So glad nearly everyone recognised me! Thanks Mike for a great weekend, just wished it could have gone on longer, and I hope that says it all. Might get a chance see you in Mansfield when next up there. Take care and Best wishes to you and Marian.

Liz and Errol MacBean

Thanks Mike for all the organising and special thanks to all the folk who turned up to make it such a special weekend.  We thoroughly enjoyed your company as ever, so thanks to one and all.  Una and I look forward to seeing you all again next time.

All the Best, Johnny & Una Johnson

Hi Mike, Many thanks for organising the week-end. It was good to see so many after such a long time. Christine and I greatly enjoyed the dinner. Hope to see you and everyone else again next year. Take care.

Regards, Dimitri & Christine Diamandopoulos

Reunion 2015

The First & most previous (which makes it the last)(work that one out!) informal gathering in April 2014 at The Bell in Aston Clinton (details as previous) was seen as a successful one although only attended by 25 people (13 old boys, 10 partners) together with Janet Carlton (sister of Roland “Duke” Bath) and her little boy, son Roland, who turned out to be 6′ 3″ with muscles everywhere. It’s as well that we’re a friendly bunch! So-much-so that it has been decided to return to the Bell for 2015.

We have made a booking for the return visit on:

Saturday 16th May 2015

7.30 for 8.00pm

this time favouring the date of Attestation rather than Graduation, for a change, in the hope of attracting better weather.

We have been advised that 30 is the maximum number for catering as a group so mark your social calendars and give us your commitment soonest (having said that I’m sure extra numbers could be accommodated with a bit of jiggery-pokery)(but then we only attracted 25 last time, so it would seem to be reasonable).

Style and format is expected to be the same as last time with everyone being responsible for their own bills etc. Details will be forwarded in due course.

Mike & Marian Storey have done a good job in organising this 2015 event despite being absorbed in searching for and executing a major house move at the same time (new details in due course).

As always, our widowed ladies are especially welcome to join us.

Regrettably, two more names have been added to our In Memoriam list.
